Long Time No Blog

It’s been a good while since my last post. Haven’t played much in the past couple of weeks. I’ve had a lot going on. I moved to Creedmoor a couple of weeks ago. I really like the neighborhood here…it’s nice. I also got me a job doing security at a nuclear plant. The job is going to be something like 4 days on 3 days off. So, I should still be able to get in a good amount of hands. It’s gonna be nice to get away from the computer.

Last month I made about $2,000; playing mostly 100NL. Just yesterday, I cashed out all of the money in my poker accounts and put it in the bank. I feel better with the money in the bank since I’m getting married in October.

I found someone to stake me as well. I got staked just yesterday to play 100NL and 200NL. He put up the money and we will split the profits for 100,000 hands. Not a bad deal. Hopefully, this will go well and he can stake me at higher stakes later on.

A Look Back

When I look back at how much I have improved over the last year, it really encourages me. It’s really nice to see all of the hard work and dedication that I’ve put into the game paying off. Just looked at my graph of the last 125,000 hands that I’ve played at 100NL HU and it looks like I’m building a mountain🙂 . I’m making approximately $30 an hour at this level. I’m really looking forward to making the jump to 200NL where I can make $60 an hour or so. When I get there, I plan on grinding 200NL for several months before taking the jump to 400NL. I am no longer in a rush to move up the stakes.

Here is a look at my graph. With rakeback included, I’ve made over $10,000 over this stretch of hands:

I start working with my coach again next week. He motivates the heck out of me. Seeing him posting $10,000 – $20,000 months really lights a fire under me to improve my game further and move up in stakes. Hopefully, I will be at the level he is at this time next year. That’s my goal anyway and with his help I’m sure I will get there🙂

Bye Bye June!

Well, another month is down. I didn’t quite reach my goal for the number of hands played. However, overall this month was a success. I played over 25,000 hands and made a little over $2,300 after rakeback.

My goal for next month is to play 30,000+ hands. Also, next month, I am going to start playing 200NL. I’m going to continue to play 100NL as well until I have a big enough roll to play 200NL and above. I played a little 200NL this month and it’s not that much different from 100NL. Just seems harder to get action.

Also next month, I’m going to start getting coached again. I got offered a real good deal from my coach for 50% off the normal hourly rate. So I’m excited to start working with my coach again.

I’m gonna be going fishing with my Granddad on Friday; going motorcycle riding with my Dad on Saturday; and going to the lake with my girlfriend and her family on Sunday after church. A well deserved break after a long month🙂

That’s all for now.

I worked from about 9:00am to about 6:00pm today and only managed to get in 1,000 hands. It’s kinda frustrating to not be able to get in the amount of hands that I would like to because of the lack of action at the heads-up tables. Eventually I want to branch out onto more sites so that I will hopefully be able to get in more hands. Today turned out to be a pretty good day. I made a profit of a little over $400. Volume wise, I haven’t been doing my job this month. I’ve only gotten in about 20,000 hands. So, it doesn’t look like I will reach my goal of 40,000 hands for the month. However, I do plan on getting in 30,000+ hands this month. Wish me luck!

One of the hardest things about playing poker professionally is putting in the hours. It’s not like I have a boss to tell me what to do and when to do it. I’m proud of the discipline that I’ve had over the past couple of weeks. I’ve been sticking to my ‘2,000 hands per day’ plan. It has been going rather well. Yesterday I played about 2,100 hands and made about 300 dollars. Today I played just over 2,000 hands and made about 600 dollars. In the short run the money doesn’t matter, but it sure does feel good to see results. I’m on track to reach my goal of 40,000 hands for this month. So far I’ve played about 10,000 hands. Time to buckle down and get in the other 30,000! That’s all for now.

Good Start

I had a good start to the month today. I played 2,078 hands and made a profit of just over 350 dollars. I also did a little exercise this morning before I started playing. I’ve gotten pretty out of shape over the last year or so. I think I’m gonna start exercising a lot more often this year. Don’t think I’ll get back into ‘Marine Corps shape’, but I do want to get in shape. That’s all for now.

Goals for June

I’m gonna set the bar pretty high for the month of June. My goal is pretty basic: I want to get in at least 40,000 hands. This shouldn’t be much of a problem if I can stick to my 2,000 hands per day plan. So yeah, I’m gonna work my butt off🙂 I’ve been lazy for long enough😦
